PG Department of Computer and IT of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar organized an ICSSR sponsored Two- Day National Seminar (offline) on “Recent Advances in Growth and Prospects of Digital India: Revolutionizing Education through Digitalization” (RAGPDI- RETD-(2023))


 

On the eve of 75 years of Independence and to commemorate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the PG Department of Computer and IT of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar organized an ICSSR sponsored Two- Day National Seminar (offline) on “Recent Advances in Growth and Prospects of Digital India: Revolutionizing Education through Digitalization” (RAGPDI- RETD-(2023)) The Chief Guest for the seminar was Dr. S. P Singh, Former Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The seminar initiated with lighting the lamp and invoking the blessings of the Almighty.

Foral welcome was offered to the dignitaries by Shri Vinod Dada, Senior Vice-President of the Governing Body, Dr. Kiran Arora, Member, Governing Body, Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar, Principal and Patron, Mrs. Shivani Sharma, Seminar Convenor and Head, PG Department of Computer Science and IT and Seminar Coordinators Dr. Lovely Sharma and Ms Annie Ahuja, Assistant Professors, PG Department of Computer Science and IT. Principal accorded a formal welcome to the guests and gave a brief description about the institution. Mrs. Shivani Sharma delivered the introductory note on the said topic.

The Inaugural Session on the first day started with the Presidential Remarks

The Inaugural Session on the first day started with the Presidential Remarks by the Chief Guest of the Day, Dr. S. P Singh, Former Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar where he spoke about the need of Digitalization in today’s volatile era. The Keynote Speaker of the session was Dr Rohini Sharma, Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Applications, Panjab University, Chandigarh. She elaborated on the varied government schemes launched to promote digtal education through online platforms like ‘E-Pathshala’, DIKSHA, SWAYAM, etc, as to how it can strengthen online education. After the conclusion of the session, the Proceedings of the National Seminar was released.

After the Inaugural Session, there were two Technical Sessions. The Resource Person for the First Technical Session was Dr. Manik Sharma, Dean and Associate Professor, Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, DAV University, Sarmastpur, Jalandhar. He delivered his discourse on Artificial General Intelligence Applications like Chat GPT, GFP-GAN, LUMEN 5, Deep Beat, Deep Nostalgia, etc. It was followed by the Second Technical Session. The Chairperson of this session was Prof (Dr.) Lalitsen Sharma, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science and IT, University of Jammu, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Road, Jammu Tawi.

The Resource Person for the Second Session was Dr. Pankaj Deep Kaur

The Resource Person for the Second Session was Dr. Pankaj Deep Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar. She discussed new technologies like Deep Learning, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning and Artificial Neural Networks with live examples. The Chairperson of the First Technical Session on the second day was Dr Ashutosh Verma, GNA Business School, Associate Professor and Head, GNA University, Phagwara. He enlisted 9 pillars of Digital India. He also shared his views on Digilocker, E-Governance, E-Kranti, E-Hospital System and Electronics Manufacturing.


The Resource person of this session was Ms Uminder Kaur, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Application, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara. She particularly differentiated between Digitization, Digitalization and Digital Transformation. The Chairperson of the Second Technical Session was Dr Kamlesh Dutta, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. She held thr IT is one of the biggest sectors contributing to India’s economic growth. The Resouce person of this session was Dr Monika, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Applications, Kurukshetra University. She discussed the need of cybersecurity and staying safe online.

The Valedictory Address was delivered by Dr. Kamlesh Dutta

The Valedictory Address was delivered by Dr. Kamlesh Dutta. Towards the conclusion of the event, Senior Vice President, Shri Vinod Dada thanked all the dignitaries for the intellectual exchange. The speech for Vote of thanks was presented by Ms Annie Ahuja. Around 22 research papers were published in the Seminar Proceedings bearing an ISBN. Mrs. Shikha Puri, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Commerce & Management handled the stage effectively.

The seminar served as a learning experience and a resourceful exchange of ideas for all. The seminar was attended by academicians from different universities and colleges. President Shri Naresh Kumar Budhia, Chief Patron, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada ji, members of the Governing Body and the Principal congratulated the Department for the success of the Seminar.
