The PG Department of Computer Science and IT organized a Two Day International Conference sponsored by DST-SERB on 'Recent Advances in Science, Engineering and Technology'. The Chief Guest for the conference was Dr. Manoj Kumar, Vice- Chancellor, DAV University, Punjab. The Guest of Honour for the day was Prof. Dhan Prasad Pandit (Campus Chief, Padma Kanya Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University, Nepal).The seminar initiated with lighting the lamp and invoking the blessings of the Almighty. Floral welcome was offered to the dignitaries by Shri Vinod Dada, Senior Vice - President of the Governing Body, Dr. Kiran Arora, Member, Governing Body and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar, Patron and Convenor of the Conference. Principal formally welcomed the guests and gave a brief description about the institution. Mrs. Shivani Sharma, Coordinator of the Conference, delivered the introductory note on the said topic.
The Inaugural Session started with the Presidential Remarks by the Chief Guest of the day where he held that Teaching and Research go hand in hand. He also highlighted the relevance of the Metaverse and of incorporating that technology which should be innovative and which should not compromise on environmental norms. The Guest of Honour laid considerable emphasis on environmental hazards specifically Himalayan Glacial melt which he demonstrated through a documentary film. He stated that the scientists in concern with Science and Engineering discipline should work in bringing out ways to combat this issue. The Key Note address was delivered by Dr. Rachna Seth, Manager & Principal Data Scientist, Rio Tinto, Perth, Australia. She expressed her views on Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Education in India and abroad maintaining that it ii just a matter of perception. Indian Education is as good as foreign education since every year a good number of Asians are hired in countries across the world chiefly because of their good Mathematical and Coding Skills. The Resource Persons for this session were Prof.(Dr.) Anu Gupta (Department of Computer Science &Applications, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India) and Dr. Manik Sharma (Dean & Associate Professor, Faculty of Computer Science & Technology, DAV University, Sarmastpur, Jalandhar.
The Chairperson for the Second Technical Session was Prof.(Dr.) Anu Gupta. The Resource Persons for the Second Session were Prof. Mukesh Kumar and Dr. Neha Jain (Head & Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Application, Government Degree College, R.S Pura, Jammu). Prof Mukesh Kumar delivered his discourse on Smart materials, their applications and scope and Dr Neha Jain discussed Semantic Web through her presentation. The Chairperson for the First Technical Session on November 26,2022 was Dr. Rajender Nath (Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Application, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana, India) The Resource Persons for the first online technical session were Dr. Vineet Khullar (Scientist, Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN, USA) and Mrs. Shina Bhatia (Research Associate, Department of Quantitative Health , East Tennessee State University, TN, USA). Dr.Vineet Khullar discussed about Big Data, its analysis and benefits. He also talked about uses of Big Data in Research and Training. Mrs.Shina Bhatia delivered her discourse on Biostatistics and its application. The Chairperson for the Second Technical Session was Dr.Parminder Kaur (Head & Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar). The Valedictory Address was read by Dr. Rajender Nath (Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Application, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana, India). The Vote of Thanks was presented by Dr. Lovely Sharma. The programme concluded with the National Anthem. Mrs. Shikha Puri, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Commerce & Management and Mrs. Divya Budhia, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics handled the stage effectively. The Conference served as a learning experience and a resourceful exchange of ideas for all. It was attended by academicians from different universities and colleges, political leaders, policy makers, business executives and the students. President Shri Naresh Kumar Budhia, Chief Patron Senior Vice - President Shri. Vinod Dada, other honourable members of the Governing Body and the Principal congratulated the Department for the success of the conference.
